Ski Powderhorn

Ski Powderhorn and relax in the Hot Springs at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort

Nestled just 40 miles from Grand Junction, Colorado near the Grand Mesa is a small, quaint ski resort called Powderhorn.

Powderhorn is a 1,600 acre ski area with just 600 acres of that groomed, offering 5 lifts and 1,650 vertical feet. Fifty percent of the ski resort is designated intermediate terrain, making for a great leisurely ski day, enjoying each run with friends and family and taking in the views.

Powderhorn does have a few trails with snowmaking capability, which sometimes is necessary since they only average 250 inches of snow per year.

For those who want an alternative to skiing or a day off the slopes, try the Powderhorn tubing hill nearby. The Powderhorn tubing hill charges a small fee to access the hill for two hours and is limited to the number of riders, so reservations are recommended. The tubing hill features a surface lift, so you don’t even have to walk up the hill!

A great family ski mountain that is close to Grand Junction and the wine country of Palisade, Colorado, Powderhorn is a little jewel tucked away from the main thoroughfare of I-70 and is certainly worth the small trek.
